Light is precarious
Life is precarious, forced,
frightened, through a crack of time
stumbling hopeful of enlightenment
through folds of burgundy flesh
Waiting for the brightness to return
the memory of a flash like retinal glow
but it’s there creeping refracting glancing
off edges until an explosion of life returns
Sometimes light moves slow as treacle
ripples curves loops around obstacles
insinuates into places it’s not expected
tapping at darked windows unseeing
Expecting nothing but dull death’s crack
wishing
wishing
for energy lost in fear
for more than loud silences
for opening into connection
uncertain, yet still optimistic of life
